A Mixed-Method Research on Digital Literacy of Middle School Students

The purpose of this study was to reveal middle school students’ digital literacy levels and their opinions about literacy. Convergent parallel design, one the mixed-method designs, used in study. Quantitative part involved survey while qualitative included case-study model. Digital scale semi-structured interview form were collect data. participants quantitative 367 students studying at a state Kırşehir 12 took part. data analysis conducted separately, general conclusions drawn combined during interpretation. Although had high scores from scale, in-depth analyses showed that they did not have adequate information concept Moreover, results students, who technologies for research purposes, higher security dimension than studying. However, revealed most commonly entertainment. It found significantly differed by gender, grade level, book-reading duration, internet-use duration it differ using technologies.
